Adhering to the environmental protection philosophy of “energy conservation, emission reduction and clean development”, Huaneng Power International all along persists in the working rules of “not only striving to behave ourselves, but also to be a model”. We thoroughly implement the national policies and fulfill relevant objectives and responsibilities regarding energy conservation and emission reduction, and play an active role in developing and constructing coal-fired thermal power generator units and other clean energy projects featured by large capacity, high parameter and efficiency, and low emission. We strive to reduce the resource consumption and discharge of pollutants, improve the energy utilization efficiency, and put the “green” company philosophy of “focus on technology and environmental protection” into practice. Meanwhile, we take a sustainable development way to achieve high technology, excellent economic benefits, low resource consumption, and good environmental-protection results.
In 2009, we steadily promoted the “Annual Improvement of Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Indexes”, and further improved related regulations and working systems. Also, we formulated the Regulations on Management of Environmental Protection, in which basic requirements and divided tasks for managing environmental protection were specified, and measures for energy conservation and emission reduction were detailed. Through benchmarking activities of energy conservation and emission reduction, we have established complete management procedures including gap shooting, formulation of measures, implementation and rectification, summarization and improvement. Thus, the environmental protection facilities in our power plants are all in good operation. The environmental protection management capacity of Huaneng Power International and various power plants have been significantly improved.
Our company consistently carried out the special rectification work for many items of equipment, increased the funds investment in the energy saving and technical modification, pushed forward the equipment optimization administration and enhanced the performance indexes of generator units. In 2009, our company approved the implementation of 280 energy saving projects and the investment scale of funds was up to RMB 2.937 billion Yuan.
Our company carries out the water saving work according to the requirements for saving resources and reducing cost. The individual power plants carries out the cascade utilization of water in accordance with the grade of the water quality, pay great attention to the in service rate and the treatment efficiency of the water treatment equipment. Meanwhile our company pushes forward the management standardization work strictly according to the standard for the examination of the power- generation fresh water consumption, carries out the water balance test and water consumption examination work to further reduce the water consumption of the power plants.
Since 2006, our company has constantly intensified the desulphurization modification work of the in-service coal-fired generator units, and has invested more than RMB 4 billion Yuan to implement the desulphurization modification of 68 in-service coal-fired generator units with the total capacity of 22,989 MW.
