Jinggangshan Power Plant is located in Qingyuan District, Jian City, Jiangxi Province. It is 10 kilometers from downtown area of Jian City, 200 kilometers from Nanchang City, 40 kilometers from Jinggangshan Airport. To the west of the plant site, Jing-Jiu railway, Gan-Yue Expressway and 105 National Highway together provide the power plant with convenience of transportation. The Power Plant has a designed capacity of 1800MW, which is divided into two phases. The first phase project (2x300MW coal-fired units) commenced construction on 17th, November, 1998. The first unit commenced operation on 17th, December, 2000. The second unit commenced operation on 3rd, August 2001. Major equipment was supplied by Harbin Turbine Works, Harbin Generator Works and Shanghai Boiler Works. At present, the Power Plant has an operating capacity of 600MW, and is wholly owned by Huaneng Power International, Inc.
