Weihai Power Plant is located on the coast of Bohai Bay, approximately 16km from southeast Weihai municipality. The interest of the Weihai Power Plant owned by Shandong Huaneng was transferred to Huaneng Power International after the Company had successfully acquired all the shares of Shandong Huaneng. The Weihai Power Plant has an installed capacity of 850MW, consisting of four coal-fired units. The construction of these four units was divided into two phases: Phase I consisting of two 125MW domestically made units which were completed and commenced commercial operations during the years of 1993 to 1995; Phase II consists of two 300MW coal-fired domestically made units which commenced commercial operations in 1998.
