Power Plant is located in Zibo, ancient capital of Qi. It faces Dahu Mountain to the south, Jiaoji Railway and Jiqing Expressway to the north. Therefore transportation is convenient. The power plant is situated at the electricity load center of Shandong and is playing a pivotal role in power supply. Xindian Power Plant has been acquired by Huaneng Power International, Inc. on November 1, 2003, after which it became a wholly owned subsidiary of HPI. The designed capacity of Xindian Power Plant is 600MW. The first phase and second phase projects respectively consist of 2x100MW and 2x200MW units. The projects started in June 1973. In October 1974, first unit commenced operation. By January 1977, the whole projects were competed and Xindian became the biggest power plant in the province at that time. Currently, the power plant has total installed capacity of 450MW.
