Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company is located approximately 9km of southeast Rizhou Municipality. Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company has a planned installed capacity of 2,500MW to be constructed in several phases. Shandong Huaneng, China Power Investment Corporation, Shandong Power Group, Shandong International Trust and Investment Corporation, Siemens Aktiengesellschaft and United Development Incorporated hold interests representing 25.5%, 27%, 7.5%, 7.5%, 7.5%, 12.5% and 12.5% interests, respectively in Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company.

The registered capital of Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company is approximately US$150 million. The interest of Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company owned by Shandong Huaneng was transferred to Huaneng Power International after the Company had successfully acquired all the shares of Shandong Huaneng. Phase I of Shandong Rizhou Power Generation Company has an installed capacity of 700MW, consisting of two 350MW coal-fired units. Using equipment supplied from Siemens Aktiengesellschaft and Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation, the two units commenced commercial operations in April 2000.
