Huaneng Pingliang Power Generation Co., Ltd. is an independent power producer jointly established by China Northeast Power Group(55%), Gansu Power Construction Investment Corporation(35%) and Gansu Provincial Power Corporation(10%). In January 2005, through a share-holding transfer between China Huaneng Group and Huaneng Power International, Inc., the latter began to assume management control of the power plant. Pingliang Power Plant is a large mine-mouth power plant. It is located in Ershilipu, Pingliang-the border region among Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia. The first phase of the power plant covers an area of 64 hectares, comprises 4x300MW domestic coal-fired generating units with a total approved investment of CNY5.18 billion. The construction of the first two units commenced in June 1998. The two units respectively came on line on September 6th, 2000 and June 30th, 2001. The construction of units 3 and 4 commenced in May 2001. The two units respectively came on line on June 5th, 2003 and November 30th, 2003.
