Huaneng Chongqing Luohuang Power Generation Co., Ltd has two power plants under its management: Huaneng Luohuang Coal-fired Power Plant and Huaneng Luohuang Combined Cycle Power Plant. Huaneng Luohuang Power Plant is situated in Luohuang County, Chongqing Municipality. It faces Yangtze River to the north, Chunaqian Railway in the west, and is 35 kilometers away from the city center. The first and second phases of the power plant comprise 4x360MW sub-critical coal-fired steam generators imported in complete package from Alstom, a French company. As a model power plant in China for environmental protection, the power plant is the first in the country to equip Flue Gas Desulphurization system supplied by MHI. Luohuang Phase III has been designated as national-level key project in 2005. It is designed to comprise 2x600MW domestic coal-fired generating units. With construction commenced in 2004, full completion is scheduled for 2007. Chongqing Combined Cycle Power Plant is situated in Toutang, Jiangbei District, Chongqing Municipality. Using steam-gas combined cycle technology, major equipment of the power plant were imported from Johnbrown, a British company. Total installed capacity of the power plant is 108.25MW. As an important peaking power plant in Chongqing power Grid, the project construction began in August 1988 and full commercial operation commenced in June 1991.
