Huaneng Taicang Power Plant


Introduction

Huaneng Taicang Power Plant is located in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. It is adjacent to Shanghai to the east, Suzhou in the south, Changshu to the west and Yangtze River to the north. It is superbly situated. The power plant was established on June 19th, 1997 as a supporting infrastructure project for Suzhou Industrial Park, which was jointed developed by Chinese and Singapore governments. At present, Huaneng Power International, Inc., Suzhou Industrial Park, Ltd., China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Corporation, Jiangsu Guoxin Asset Management Group and Taicang Energy Development Corporation respectively holds 75%, 10%, 6%, 5% and 4% of the power plant. The first phase of the power plant comprises 2x300MW generating units, supplied by Shanghai Electric Group using imported technology. The construction of the first phase of the project commenced on May 1998. Units 1 and 2 respectively commenced operation in December 1999 and April 2000.
