The Fuzhou Power Plant is located on southeast Fuzhou. It has an installed capacity of 1,400MW and consists of four 350MW coal-fired units. Two units of Phase I use equipment produced by the Mitsubishi Consortium which commenced commercial operations in September and December 1988, respectively. Another two units of Phase II were supplied by an international consortium consisting of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft, Germany and Mitsui Babcock Energy Ltd., U.K. and commenced operations in September 1999.
Coal supply for the Fuzhou Power Plant is obtained from several coal producers located mostly in northern Shanxi Province. Coal is transported by rail from the mines to Qinhuangdao port and by ship down the east coast of China and up the Min River to a wharf located at the Fuzhou Power Plant. The Company owns and maintains the wharf, which is capable of handling vessels of up to 20,000 tons. The Fuzhou Power Plant typically stores 250,000 tons of coal on site. Coal consumption rates for power sold were 322gram/kWh for Phase I and 332gram/kWh for Phase II in 1999; and 322gram/kWh for Phase I and 323 gram/kWh for Phase II in 2000. Currently, electricity generated by the Dalian Power Plant is delivered to the Fujian Provincial Power Grid for sale.
